A different View

The longer I am doing this the more I look at my work and I wonder. I seem to have so many unanswered questions as to why. It seems like the more I accomplish, the more I achieve and the more I lose. I am not sure why bench marks always seem to come around with the loss of the last mark. Perhaps one day this trend will stop. This photo resembles that loss of balance.

Film

I have been shooting more film lately. I love the absolutely painter quality that can be portrayed. The sound of the RZ shutter snapping is soothing and magical at the same time. All to often emotion is left out of photographs, I feel that is the most important part.

Bugner

I have had an ever increasing interest in bugs and creatures. I would like to say that it started with my bees, but it actually started with Bugner. He is an old friend that I have managed to save for a surprising long time. He just has so much personality I could not let him go, also I think that he is smiling.

Project

As I have been approaching a long running project, I have been revisting my archives for what I feel has been successful and what has not. Reworking failures is where I learn the most. A successful shoot is just as much visualization as it is experience. Without the fore site and knowledge nothing works out. By examining my history it has really helped me to find what I believe to be emotive success.

Environment

This is the reason that I love to shoot landscapes. Natural Energy. It was such a beautiful calming night. We fished, had a great time, and just absorbed the wonders that are the kootenay's.

Duo Restaurant

This is from a shoot for a local restaurant. The Chef prepared a few dishes, he styled them and I shot them. This ran in the local papers, as well as mailers and the fabulous internet. On a side note it is so nice being able to see again. Not having to wear blurry glasses everyday really makes a big difference.

This bottle of Vodka really caught my eye. The immense detailing of the bottle and the way that light refracted around inside of it I knew that it would make for an interesting shoot.

June

After a long awaited break from work I am feeling energized and creative again. I have a heavy shot list for the next couple of days and am super excited about it. This is one of those nights spent thinking, learning and translating my vision into reality. It is something that I think all artists struggle with from time to time.

Flowers

Every time I feel uninspired, I shoot a plant or flower. It seems like their is an endless way to frame them, to manipulate them to show expression, to recharge my creative juices. Everyone seems to have that fall back item that can help to rebuild that creative ego. Mine happens to be flowers.
